Beach Woodchopper
$1460.00 AUD
What David says: I'd done a whole series of landscapes made of big dots like these ones here, with the pandanus trees, the grass, the large rocks and the beautiful beach scenes. But I just wasn't quite happy with them.
Then I saw this picture of this woodsman and it was tiny. And so what I did, I took an outline of it and then blew it up and painted it white. And then I embedded those dots into it. So that the woodsman now looks like he's made up of dots.
I created a background for him then which is the Woolgoolga Headlands near Coffs Harbor in New South Wales. And I thought, we should go wild with the colors - give him a lime green sky and a purple-y blue hillside.
He actually was a finalist in the Tweed Border Art prize in 2014 and was hung in the Tweed Regional gallery, Murwullimbah.
Beach Woodchopper - the original is framed in a minimal black frame.
Dimensions are 63cm x 63cm. This art work is a sublimation print baked on aluminium. The colours really pop!
